Mirabeau B. Lamar High School

History
The Lamar soccer team became a school supported sport in 1984/85. Over the years, it has grown and is now at a point where over 100 students commit to it via the school. Coach Davison joined the program as a coach in 2010, intially starting off as the JV assistant coach. During his first year as the coach, the JV team went undefeated, losing none of their games. The following year, the team lost only one game.

In 2012, Coach Davison moved up to takeover the position of head coach. During the 2012-2013 season, there were two assistant coaches - Brook Straub and Wilson Chavez. Then, during the 2014-2015 season, James Goolsbee became the assistant coach. Since 2021, Coach Kwofie has been the assistant coach.

In December of 2014, Coach Davison, Coach Goolsbee, and 18 of the players traveled to the United Kingdom. While there, they played two games one of which the won and the other of which they lost. They also toured a variety of clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool. Soccer is a global game, so the program's goal is for Lamar soccer to have a global reach. The goal of this program is to provide players with more than just an understanding of the sport.

Under Coach Davison, the Lamar boys soccer team has sealed the HISD 18-6A District Champions title for the second season in a row. #Back2Back #AndStill #Defended #NoTakeBacks
